ABOUT US

AS A PEDIATRIC OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST, I WORK WITH CHILDREN OF ALL DEVELOPMENTAL LEVELS

I noticed that many of them had difficulty identifying their own emotions and especially had difficulty interpreting the emotions of family and peers.

I wanted to design a fun and interactive way for children to practice identifying and interpreting emotions and social cues and help them ultimately develop increased empathy and emotional intelligence. And that's how the idea of Feelings Safari was born.

FEELINGS SAFARI IS SOMETHING WE'VE BEEN QUIETLY WORKING ON FOR A FEW YEARS

Ideas are one thing, but creating and implementing an idea to completion is another altogether. We have worked with an amazing illustrator who greatly helped to turn our project into a reality, ensuring thaT the game is appealing to kids and fun to play.

WE CHOSE A COMBINATION OF SAFARI ANIMALS AND HUMAN FACES FOR OUR CARDS FOR A REASON

Safari animals represent our "Scenario" cards because animals are fun and get into relatable scenarios. And we chose human faces for our "Feelings" cards so that kids can see human expression and start developing and improving upon their emotional IQ.

I'm super proud of this project and am excited to see it in action.

"Most young children struggle to understand that other people have thoughts and emotions different from their own."

"Feelings Safari helps children identify their own emotions, translate facial expressions into an emotion, and begin to experience other emotions as separate from their own."
